En el griego aparece aquí una doble negación que destaca la completa imposibilidad de entrar. Dos situaciones que surgieron algún tiempo más tarde (Mat. 20: 20-28; Luc. 22: 24-30) hicieron ver cuán imperfectamente los discípulos habían aprendido la lección que Cristo procuraba enseñarles. 4. Se humille. Ver com. cap. 11: 29. con referencia a otras ocasiones cuando Cristo impartió instrucciones acerca del valor de la humildad como rasgo de carácter, ver Mat. 23: 8-12; Luc. 14: 11; 18: 14. Ese es el mayor. Ver com. Mar. 9: 35. 5. Un niño. Jesús prosigue mostrando la comparación entre ciertas admirables características frecuentes en la niñez y las de aquellos que son verdaderamente grandes en el reino de los cielos, donde la única grandeza es la del carácter. Si bien Jesús estaba hablando aquí también de niños literales, se refería en primera instancia a los que eran aún "niños" en el reino de los cielos, es decir, que eran cristianos inmaduros (cf. 1 Cor-. 3: 1-2; Efe. 4: 15; Heb. 5: 13; 2 Ped. 3: 18; DTG 408). En mi nombre. Ver com. cap. 10: 40-42. En nombre de alguien equivale a decir como representante suyo o por amor a él. Me recibe. La narración de Mateo omite una sección del discurso de Jesús. Fue pronunciada en respuesta a una pregunta hecha por Juan acerca de la actitud que debía asumirse para con otros que no estuvieran directamente relacionados con los seguidores inmediatos de Cristo (ver com. Mar. 9: 38-41). 6. Haga tropezar. Gr. skandalízo, "hacer caer en una trampa", "hacer tropezar" (ver com. cap. 5: 29). Aquí, Jesús se refiere en primera instancia a cualquier cosa que desuniera a los hermanos. Es decir, lo que "hace tropezar" (ver com. del verbo skandalízÇ en relación con cap. 5: 29). Es necesario. Es decir, es inevitable que haya motivo de tropiezos. Los tropiezos no son necesarios en los propósitos y los planes de Dios, pero es imposible evitarlos por causa de la naturaleza humana (DTG 405; cf. Luc. 17: 1). ¡Ay de aquel hombre! Ay de aquel que por precepto o por ejemplo induzca a otros a equivocarse o los desanime para que no sigan en las pisadas de Jesús. 8. Tu pie te es ocasión de caer. Con referencia a la naturaleza figurada de esta declaración, ver com. cap. 5: 29-30. Después de hablar de motivos de tropiezo ocasionados por otros (cap. 18: 5-7), Jesús habla de malos hábitos y tendencias en la vida de uno mismo. Se pusieren de acuerdo. En forma figurada, la deuda representa el registro de pecados computados contra nosotros. Así como el deudor de la parábola, somos completamente incapaces de cancelar esa deuda. Pero cuando nos arrepentimos de verdad, Dios nos libra de la deuda. Comparar esta parábola con la de los dos deudores (ver com. Luc. 7: 41-42) Así también. El que se niega a perdonar a otros, desecha la esperanza de ser perdonado él mismo. Esta es la gran lección de la parábola: el abismal contraste entre la crueldad y la falta de misericordia del hombre para con sus prójimos y la longanimidad y la misericordia de Dios para con nosotros. Antes de que acusemos a otros o exijamos de ellos lo que nos corresponde, haríamos bien en considerar primero el modo en que Dios nos ha tratado en circunstancias similares y cómo querríamos que otros nos trataran si la situación se invirtiera (ver com. cap. 6: 12, 14-15). En vista de la infinita misericordia de Dios para con nosotros, deberíamos también manifestar misericordia para con otros. |
